Who is the candidate?
Candidate for liposuction is the one who has problem with excess fat that neither diet nor exercise can help. He/She should not be too obese, and has to be healthy and fit enough to undergo surgery.
Candidate must have a clear and realistic ideas of surgery and result, and should understand that liposuction is not a procedure to reduce weight.
How long should I stay in Thailand for Liposuction surgery?
Liposuction in Phuket needs at least 8-10 days.
How is surgery performed?
After general anesthesia, surgeon will give you either fluid or tumescent injection to dissolve fat, reduce blood loss and numb the area. Then, a cannula is inserted. The presser sucton attached on another side of the cannula is then turned on to remove fat. Presser dressing will be worn after surgery to keep the surgical area in shape.
The surgery takes around 1-3 hours depending on the size of the area.
What kind of anesthesia will be used?
Liposuction in Phuket is performed under general anesthesia.
What is the pre and post-surgical care?
Pre surgery:
1. Refrain from smoking, taking any medications or vitamin, drinking alcohol 2 weeks before surgery
2. Fast 6-8 hours before surgery
Post surgery:
1. Wear a compression garment for about 3 months to support the surgical area and prevent skin damage
2. Keep the surgical area dry to avoid infection
3. Follow surgeon's instructions closely
Normal activities can be resumed 7 days after sugery. Strenuous activities should be avoided during the first few weeks.
How is the incision and scar?
Incisions and scars are tiny and made hidden from view.
What are the possible risks and complications?
Every procedure contains some risks and complications. The possible ones for liposuction are pain, infection, slow healing, formation of fat or blood clots, excess blood loss, nerve compression or sensaton alteration.
